Security-Officer is a moderated discussion list that allows Information Technology (IT) security officers in Texas government to share information and to collaborate with their peers via email. Subscribers may use the list to:

  • Seek advice from other state government IT and IT security staff regarding security issues

  • Receive updates on current security alerts

  • Discuss technical issues

  • Request referrals or opinions about IT security products and services

  • Share resources and expertise


  • The list is open to designated information security officers from Texas State agencies and universities. There is no fee for subscribing. Participation is completely voluntary. The list is hosted by the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) and the value of the security mail list depends entirely on the interaction of its members.

    Subscribing to security-officer

Once confirmation is received, your request will be held for approval by the list moderator. You will be notified of the moderator's decision by email. This is also a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator.
